Find an activity in the audit log

Use the audit log’s filters to narrow down who performed an action and when.

Before you start: You need permission to view Audit Log. Start with a specific question, such as who changed a known record on a particular day.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Audit Log in the workroom where the activity occurred.

  2. Use All actions to narrow the action type, and All actors if you know the person involved. Leave a filter broad when you are unsure.

  3. Set Start date and End date for the period you want to review, then select Refresh audit log.

  4. Read the matching entries. Compare the actor, action, time and any record information shown with the activity you are investigating.

  5. If you cannot find the activity, widen the dates or remove a filter and refresh again. Also check that you are in the right workroom.

Expected result

You can narrow an activity search using the action, actor and date controls rather than searching an unrelated workroom or time period.

Common pitfalls

  • An empty filtered result does not prove that no activity occurred.
  • Keep API keys and tokens out of screenshots or reports. The separate Developers area is for technical integration tools, not a substitute for the audit log.
