Check a teammate’s access

Help a teammate confirm that they can open the work they need without giving them unnecessary permissions.

Before you start: Ask the teammate to use their own account. Choose a harmless record you can both identify, such as a training task. Never share passwords or session tokens.

Steps

  1. Confirm that you and your teammate are looking at the same workroom and the same record. Check their active membership and assigned role if access is unclear.

  2. Ask them to open the module and find the record. Have them open its details, not just the module’s home screen.

  3. Compare the available actions with their job. For a read-only teammate, check that the information is readable and that editing is unavailable. For someone who needs to act, check the relevant control using a harmless example.

  4. If access is missing or too broad, tell the workroom administrator which person, record and action are affected. After the permission is corrected, ask the teammate to try the same action again.

Expected result

Your teammate can reach the right record and has the access needed for the agreed task.

Common pitfalls

  • Your Owner or administrator account may have more access than theirs; test with the teammate’s account.
  • Do not make a payment, delete data or publish private content just to test a permission.
