Review a production journey from plan to closeout
Follow one production order across materials, operations, quality, stock and costs without mixing unrelated records.
Review a production journey from plan to closeout
Before you begin
Choose one production order to review. Keep its reference, exact product and quantity with you throughout these checks. Related records must belong to that order—not simply look similar.
Follow the same order
1. Open Produce → Products, BOMs and Routings. Match the product, stock unit, output batch and effective manufacturing versions. A newer Draft BOM is not automatically the version to use. 2. Open the exact Production Order. Compare required materials with available eligible supply, reservations, issues and consumption. Investigate any shortage before release; stock for another item or a quarantined quantity is not a substitute. 3. Check the planned operations and Work Centres. Confirm the needed people, equipment and actual available time with the team. Daily capacity alone is not a booked production slot. 4. Review the order's operations in Shop Floor. Compare completed quantity, active time, downtime and material records. Do not treat a completed operation as proof that every planned unit was produced. 5. Follow output into Quality and the exact Inventory item or lot. Match the source order, inspection quantity, recorded findings and final result. Check storage and eligibility separately; an inspection awaiting a decision is not a release. 6. If correction is needed, use the rework preparation workflow from the earlier lesson. Keep the original defect, affected quantity and required checks linked. Record only work and inspection actually performed. 7. If this order uses Subcontracting, follow its own supplier order into the matching receipt and putaway. Reconcile material responsibility, sent/received quantities, acceptance and any supplier-held remainder. Do not merge another supplier order into this journey. 8. Finish in Costing and Reports. Compare the exact order's expected and actual costs, remaining output and completion requirements. Finance postings must be confirmed in Finance, not inferred from Costing.
Check the result
You should be able to trace one consistent chain from product definition to its latest stock and cost position. For each remaining item, name the owner and next action—for example, obtain missing material, complete a final inspection or resolve a cost difference. Leave the order at its truthful current stage rather than changing settings or quantities just to make it appear complete.
