Assign a course and check learner progress

Assign a published course to the intended learner and find the corresponding completion record.

Before you start: Have the exact published course, learner identity and assignment requirements. The learner needs their own usable account and access to the course.

Steps

1. Open People → Learning → Courses. Find the exact course and check for an existing assignment to the intended learner. If the assignment already exists, skip steps 2–4 and inspect its current progress in step 5.

2. Select Assign on the course. Confirm the dialog names the intended course, then search for and select the exact employee. Check the selected identity, not just the number on Assign.

3. Set Required and Set due date deliberately. An assignment requirement is separate from the Article’s own required-lesson setting. Do not accept a default deadline or obligation that does not match the learning plan.

4. Select Assign once. Return to the assignment register and match both the learner and course. Check the saved initial state before attempting another assignment after an uncertain response.

5. The learner opens Pulse → Learning → My learning, finds the course and selects Continue. They confirm the lesson title, read the complete content and carry out its practice task.

6. After completing the required work, the learner selects Mark complete where that is the lesson’s completion control. An already-completed lesson can be reviewed without repeating completion.

7. The learner returns to My learning and checks the course’s retained progress. The administrator can compare the same learner/course assignment in People → Learning → Courses.

8. For the wider history, open People → Learning → Records and open that exact learner. Read the named course and activity entries separately from any path, training attendance or skill assessment.

Expected result

The correct learner has one course assignment, and both learner and administrator can find its recorded progress.

Common pitfalls

  • A published course, a learning path and an individual assignment are different records. Match the exact course and learner when comparing progress.
  • A completed lesson records the learning workflow; it does not by itself prove practical competence. Review the actual practice output when that matters.
  • An employee with unlinked workspace access may need account setup before using the learner route.
