Attach the right supporting files to a task
Link an existing file from Files and check that the right people can read it.
Attach the right supporting files to a task
Keep the exact output or supporting document with the task so the next person can find it. A file link and permission to open that file are separate.
Prepare the file
1. In Files, open the intended folder and check the exact filename and version. Reuse an existing copy rather than uploading a duplicate. 2. Use the file or folder menu → Share to review People and Link Sharing. Check direct and inherited access. If access needs changing, confirm the intended person and role before selecting them; a person selection can apply immediately. 3. If the file is not yet stored, use Upload Files or Upload, select the correct local file and wait for it to appear. Leave and reopen the folder to check the filename.
Attach it to the task
4. Open the task and check its title, Board and project. 5. Under Related Documents, check whether the file is already attached. If not, select Attach from Vault and choose the exact existing file from its folder. 6. Review the selected filename, then select Update Task. 7. Reopen the task and check Related Documents again. Open the file through the normal supported route and verify the content and version. 8. When another person needs the file, have them confirm they can open it. Your own access does not establish theirs.
Expected result: the task retains the correct file association and the intended reader can use the content.
If access is denied: ask the file owner or administrator to resolve it. Do not enable broad link sharing just to make the attachment open. If an upload or attachment result is unclear, inspect the existing folder or task before repeating the action.
