Follow one item through receiving, storage, fulfilment and follow-up without double-counting quantities or skipping restrictions.

Review an inventory journey end to end

Before you begin

Choose one actual item and demand or supply chain. Gather its stock unit, exact source references, warehouse/locations and current cutoff. For tracked stock, include the real lot/serial, expiry and quality requirements.

Follow the quantity

1. Open Inventory → Items and match the exact SKU and unit. Check Stock by named location and read availability separately from physical presence. Preserve reservations and restrictions belonging to other work. 2. Open the matching Receiving record. Reconcile expected, actually received, accepted, held and rejected quantities against its original source. A receipt request or incoming balance is not a physical arrival. 3. Follow its Putaway tasks and, if applicable, Transfers. Compare the saved source, transit and destination quantities with the actual handoffs. Continue only from the record's current stage; an existing completed record is not a reason to repeat a receipt or movement. 4. Review the exact Reservations and fulfilment records for the demand. Keep the same quantity connected through pick, staging, issue and recipient acceptance. Reserved stock is not another unit, and a picked quantity is not automatically delivered. 5. If there is a count difference, open the relevant Stock Count. Compare the same SKU, unit, location and cutoff, retain the original observation and recount, and reconcile intervening movements before seeking a correction. Do not change stock simply to make a report agree. 6. For a return, open the correct Customer Returns or Supplier Returns record. Preserve the original source, actual custody and quality/disposition. A stock return does not by itself issue a credit or complete a commercial remedy.

Review the remaining demand

7. In Replenishment, compare dated demand with timely eligible supply and the actual planning basis. Treat a recommendation or What-if scenario as analysis, not a booked purchase or promised production date. 8. Use Valuation and Reports for their own defined quantity, cost and time scope. Keep Finance confirmation separate from Inventory presentation. If you export, inspect the actual resulting file rather than relying on a download button.

Check the result

You can trace the same item and source chain through its current stage without adding receipt, acceptance and putaway as separate stock. For every unfinished quantity, restriction or decision, name the responsible owner and next action. After an uncertain save, reopen the exact record and stock trail before retrying; never create a duplicate or relax a policy just to finish the journey.
