Recover an uncertain Inbox action
Check what actually happened before repeating a draft save, send or appointment change.
Before you retry
Stop and identify the last action, account, workroom, subject or event, and approximate time. An unexpected screen does not by itself mean that the action failed.
Inspect the same item
- Preserve the prepared text and recipient details in an appropriate secure place if they might be lost. Do not save an empty editor over a draft whose read view still contains your message.
- Open the view that matches the action: Drafts for a saved draft, Sent for an outgoing message, the original thread for a reply, or Calendar for an appointment.
- Check the selected account, filters and date range. Locate the exact item by subject or title, recipients and time. A similar message or another event is not a substitute.
- Reopen the item and compare the full result. For a draft, check the complete body and the editable version. For outgoing mail, check the actual recipients and content. For an appointment, check the saved date, start, end and destination.
- If two views disagree, keep both observations associated with the same item. Do not create another draft, task or event merely to make one view look correct.
- Retry only once you have established that the first action did not execute and have resolved the reason it failed. If the outcome is still uncertain, ask the responsible administrator or support contact to reconcile it before risking a duplicate.
Give support a useful description
Include the item reference, time, expected result, last action, visible result and views you checked. For example: “The draft opens with the full text, but its edit view is empty. I have not saved over it or sent it.” Include only the minimum information needed; exclude unrelated mailbox content, credentials and secure access links.
Expected result
You either recover the exact item or have a clear unresolved issue that can be investigated without losing content or duplicating work.
Remember: An item in Sent is not proof of delivery, reading or agreement. A saved appointment is not proof that a meeting took place.
