Create a task with a clear brief
Create a task, add a useful description and link it to the right project.

In this lesson
Create a task with a clear brief
A useful task tells someone what to produce and how to check it—not just what button to click. Have the intended Board and project ready before you start.
Create the task
1. Open Board and select the Board where the work belongs. Search for the intended task first to avoid a duplicate. If it already exists, skip to step 8 and check it without resetting its description or status. 2. Select the top + → Create New → New Task. 3. Confirm Select board, then enter a specific Task Title, such as “Draft the customer welcome article”. 4. Add the complete brief in Description. Include the purpose, needed inputs, expected output and acceptance criteria. For example:
Output: A welcome article for new customers.
Inputs: The agreed onboarding process and support contact details.
Done when: The article explains the first three actions, links to the help centre and has been reviewed for accuracy.
5. Under Status and Planning, use Backlog for work that has not started. Set other planning fields only when you have the information. 6. Scroll to Relationships → Project and select the exact project this task belongs to. The Board can already be selected while Project is still empty. 7. Review the title, full description, status and project. Select Create Task once.

Check the result
Check the saved task
8. Leave the form and reopen the task from Table, Kanban or Board-scoped search. Check the complete description, including its final lines, and the selected project. 9. Open Projects and expand that project’s left chevron. Confirm the task appears in its task list.
Expected result: a saved task with enough context to start work and a clear project relationship.
To link an existing task: open it, choose Relationships → Project, select the project and use Update Task. Reopen it to check the change.
If a refresh opens a blank New Task form: return to Board and reopen the existing task. Do not create a second task just because the form is blank.
