Finish a workflow and hand over what remains
Check the original business outcome before turning a finished task into a wider completion claim.
Before you start
Reopen the exact person, support request or operations job you have been working on. Keep its source references and current state. Do not create a new record merely because the existing one still has an open item.
Choose the relevant finish check below, then complete the common handoff.
Finish an onboarding journey
Check the same employee’s onboarding event and each required activity. Workforce status, workroom-account access, equipment readiness and course completion are separate outcomes. A course completed by an administrator does not prove the employee completed it.
Have the employee open the intended course and practice material in their own permitted context. Confirm the actual welcome activity, useful practice output and equipment checks. If an item remains incomplete, identify its owner and next action instead of closing the event to make its percentage look complete.
Turn an accepted support answer into guidance
Preserve the original Desk request, accepted answer and exact source version. Remove details that belong only to that one incident, but do not turn an unverified technical explanation into a general rule.
In People → Learning → Knowledge, search for an appropriate existing article. If the existing published article is already correct, preserve its state and skip new-draft creation and republishing; continue with the reader check below. Use the supported maintenance process for an intentional revision. For a new article, select Create knowledge, choose Write here, enter the complete guidance and source context, and review its category, intended employees or groups, effective date and review date before Create draft.
For a new or intentionally revised draft, reopen its full body and check it with the content owner. When ready for the intended audience, use the draft row’s Publish action and reopen its state, body and audience. For either a new publication or an existing correct article, ask the intended readers to open and use that exact edition. An audience count or administrator preview does not establish reader access or understanding.
Keep one follow-through task for maintaining the guidance, with a clear owner, review date and acceptance condition. Publishing an article does not prove fewer incidents or a repaired underlying cause.
Finish an operations job
Reconcile component quantities separately from finished goods. Follow the same units through receipt, quality hold, issue, consumption, output and customer acceptance. A production operation processed successfully does not prove all finished units were accepted.
Keep held or returned units out of eligible supply until their disposition is resolved. Check outstanding customer demand separately from trip closure and resource release; a closed trip does not, by itself, make a vehicle or driver available.
Make the handoff usable
State the exact record and version, what is complete, what remains open, the responsible person, the next action and its due date or review point. Include the source needed to decide the next step. Have the receiving person confirm that the task and material are clear.
Expected result
The original outcome is either genuinely finished or has a precise handoff—not a collection of unrelated green statuses.
