Follow one asset across registration, custody, return, maintenance and financial review, keeping each outcome distinct.

Review an asset journey from registration to return

Before you begin

Choose one exact asset and gather its source documents, serial/tag, included accessories and current records. Use the detailed earlier lessons for any new operation; this final review brings the same asset's journey together.

Follow the same asset

1. Open Assets → Register and match the asset number, serial/tag and source. Check whether registration was accepted or remains under review. Do not create another master because an identity correction or pending candidate needs attention. 2. Open the asset's Summary. Read Lifecycle, Operational, Custody, Condition and Financial status separately. A Good condition label is not a fresh test, and an available label does not resolve pending custody. 3. Review Assignment and the related custody record. Match the intended recipient, complete item set, issue and expected return. Confirm the accountable recipient's actual acceptance; a coordinator's saved action is not that person's receipt. 4. For a return, reconcile the expected items with what actually arrived and the performed inspection. Keep a missing accessory or unperformed test unresolved. Do not close the return merely because the main asset is back. 5. If work was required, open the matching Care → Maintenance → Work Order. Compare its scope, performed work, checklist and current review stage. A completed work entry still needs the required verification before closure. Preserve a legitimate later stage rather than restarting the order. 6. Before recommending reuse, check the actual readiness criteria and responsible review. A repaired item can still be waiting for an accessory, test or custody decision. Keep the earlier defect and later correction in the history. 7. Open Financial and the relevant Value records. Compare the exact cost basis, incidental costs, depreciation settings and review state with a same-cutoff Finance record. A maintenance cost, capital amount and pending movement are not interchangeable; leave an unexplained difference with the financial owner. 8. Review Documents and Activity for the supporting version and recorded sequence. Read the actual document content and retain earlier valid events. Distinguish the event date from the date you retrieved the record.

Check the result

Give a short status for this exact asset: where it is, who is responsible, whether its complete set and readiness checks are satisfied, and what remains in care or Finance. For each unfinished part, name the owner and next action. A returned asset can still be unavailable; a repaired asset can still have an open financial review. Close each part only when its own required outcome is complete.
