Receive and review an asset return
Follow handover, inspection and review separately before releasing custody and availability.
In this lesson
Receive and review an asset return
Match the exact assignment and compare the asset plus every issued accessory. A return request is not a physical receipt, and receiving the handover is not a completed inspection.
Request and receive
1. Open Assets → Custody → Assignments and locate the current asset/custodian assignment. If a return is already underway, resume from its verified stage rather than requesting another one. 2. On the Active assignment, select Return. Enter truthful Handover notes, then select Request Return once. Check Return Requested / Return Initiated. 3. When the asset and issued accessories actually arrive, open that same return. Record the observed identity, counts, condition, place/time and any discrepancy, then use Receive Handover. Check Handed Over. 4. At the appropriate point, select Start Inspection on that return and check Inspecting. An unrelated inspection record does not advance this custody return.

Check the result
Inspect review and verify
5. Compare the actual inspection with Assessed condition, Serviceability and Resulting route. Record damage or missing items, attach return evidence through the supported control and add useful Review notes. 6. Use Good, Serviceable and Return to Available only when the complete findings support that outcome. Keep missing accessories or failed checks unresolved until the responsible review supplies the next decision. 7. Select Submit Review for the supported decision. Find the exact assignment under Returned and read its own state; disappearing from Active is not enough. 8. Open Register → the asset → Assignment and compare the return history. Read Summary and Placement separately to check custody, operational availability and condition.
Expected result: the return history and asset states agree with the actual handover and review, with any remaining finance or care obligation clear.
If the response is uncertain: reopen the same return before repeating a stage. Do not record Receive Handover before a real handover or use an administrative click as another person’s inspection evidence.
