Save an inactive workflow for review

Build and save a small manual-trigger workflow with a numeric condition, ready for review without running it or adding downstream actions.

Before you start: You need permission to create a Flow+ draft and a clear comparison to model. Choose a unique workflow title, a description, and two numeric values—for example, 4 reviewed steps compared with a target of 5. These will be fixed values in the draft, not a live connection to a record.

Steps

1. Open Flow+ → Workflows and look for the intended draft. If an exact matching definition already exists, skip creation and configuration in steps 2–7 and inspect it using step 8. Resolve an uncertain earlier save before creating another workflow; do not repurpose a different shared workflow.

2. Select Build workflow. Enter Workflow title and a complete Description explaining the comparison, then select Save. In the builder, confirm the workflow is Inactive and its switch is off. Keep it off throughout this guide.

3. In the Nodes panel, choose Trigger. Confirm Node type: TRIGGER, select Provider: System, then Manual trigger. Give the trigger a useful label and description. Keep On error: Stop the run, leave Allow other workflows to call this trigger off, and add no caller inputs. Select Save draft.

4. Choose Condition in Nodes. Select Provider: Control Flow and Condition: If / Else. Enter a label and description that explain the comparison.

5. In Configuration, choose Number for the first Value source. Replace the default 0 with your first value, keeping Set a value. Choose equals, select Number for the second Value source, and replace its default with your target. Keep Containing body: Main workflow. Read both numbers back to check that you replaced rather than appended to the defaults.

6. Connect the trigger’s Output → Next step port to the condition’s Input → Input port. Move the node headers apart if they overlap. Select the condition and inspect Active connections to confirm the direction. Leave the true and false branches unconnected; this draft needs no action nodes.

7. Inspect the whole graph for extra nodes, then select Save draft and wait for the saved state. Leave the builder and reopen the same workflow from Workflows. If the save result was uncertain, inspect this existing draft before saving or creating again.

8. Compare the retained title, description, Inactive state, trigger provider/type, condition, two numbers, equals operator and one connection. Confirm that the caller setting remains off and both branches have no actions. The draft is ready for review when the saved definition matches what you intended.

Expected result

One inactive workflow retains a Manual trigger connected to an If / Else comparison, with no downstream actions. With values 4 and 5, the expected equality result is false; saving the definition has not executed that comparison.

Common pitfalls

  • Fixed numbers do not update when a source task or checklist changes. A live data binding is a separate design step.
  • Inactive does not make every test harmless. Test Run can change records or contact providers when a workflow contains actions; do not run it in this save-only guide.
  • A saved draft is not proof of successful validation, execution or deployment.
